Risk stays high into Tuesday, Oct 20. Iran says it shot down a U.S. drone over the Strait of Hormuz, the Houthis claim new strikes on Saudi oil sites and airports, and Russian drones killed at least four people in Ukraine overnight.

Middle East: Iran's Revolutionary Guard said it downed a U.S. MQ-9 drone over the Strait of Hormuz Monday night. It also said two tankers were set ablaze and brought to a halt south of the strait after hitting Iranian mines, without saying when, so it is unclear whether these are new incidents or the ones it claimed over the weekend. None of the ships has been named. Kpler counts at least 18 vessels reportedly attacked in the past two weeks. Qatar says U.S.-Iran talks are still going, but there is no breakthrough yet: Tehran wants blockade and sanctions relief, and Washington wants limits on uranium enrichment.

Saudi Arabia/Yemen: The Houthis claim six strikes inside Saudi Arabia over 48 hours, including Aramco facilities at Yanbu, the Shaybah oilfield, and the Riyadh and Abha airports. Saudi Arabia has not confirmed them. A Houthi ballistic missile attack on a Yemeni government training camp in Shabwa province killed at least 53 people and injured more than 200. Riyadh postponed its flagship Future Investment Initiative conference, set for Oct. 26-29, to 2027, and Egypt's parliament pushed its vote on sending air-defense help to the kingdom to Oct. 26.

Ukraine/Russia: Russia launched 165 drones overnight, 105 of them jet-powered. Ukraine's air force downed or suppressed 115, but hits were recorded at 30 locations. Three people were killed in a strike on a warehouse in Obukhiv south of Kyiv, a drone hit morning commuter traffic in Kyiv and killed at least one more, and one person died in Zaporizhzhia. Zelenskyy is in Norway seeking more help, U.S. envoys Witkoff and Kushner are expected in Oslo, and the Washington Post reports the administration has not approved a transfer of Patriot interceptors.

Energy/U.S.: Brent hovered near $110
